At the beginning of January, we were pleased to welcome two new apprentices, Lee and Josh, to the Tamar Security team. Here they are pictured with our Technical Manager, Gary Hyland.

Lee and Josh have joined us as Fire, Emergency, and Security Systems Technician apprentices. They’ll study for their Level 3 qualification with the Focus Training Group while working in the field alongside our trained and experienced technicians.

What does a Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician do?

Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technicians design, install, commission and maintain electronic systems to protect businesses, homes and properties against fires, break-ins and other emergencies.

The skills our new apprentices will learn include interconnection of equipment, programming, verifying performance/fault finding and testing and maintaining. They will learn how to install new systems, modify and maintain existing systems, and respond to call-outs to repair faulty systems. When they’ve completed their qualification, they’ll be able to work independently, but for now, they’ll be supporting our experienced technicians.

Tamar Security has trained several apprentices over the years. We’re committed to providing opportunities for young people and creating technicians of the future. We look forward to seeing Lee and Josh progress and become valuable assets to the Tamar team and our customers.
