This month, two of our engineers, Dave and James, went to the industry-renowned Zzeus Training Centre to complete a five-day course on BS5839-1:2017 – the code of practice for designing, installing, commissioning, and maintaining fire detection and alarm systems in non-domestic buildings.

Over the week, they covered the following topics:

Design and legislation: The legislation and standards relating to fire detection and fire alarm system and how to design an appropriate system, including non-complexed designs for non-domestic premises.
Installation: The installation process of fire detection and fire alarms systems to BS 5839 1:2017, including installations for non-domestic premises.
Commissioning: The commissioning process of fire detection and fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1:2017, including non-complexed installations for non-domestic premises.
Maintenance: The maintenance process of fire detection and fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1:2017, including inspecting and maintaining non-complexed installations for non-domestic premises.

And on the final day, they had to install, program and commission an Advanced Addressable fire system.

Fire safety training

We’re pleased to say Dave and James passed all the assessments! Both engineers are now fully up to date on fire alarm design, maintenance, installation and commissioning compliant with this industry standard.
