Burglar Alarms

When it comes to protecting your home or business premises, choosing the right burglar alarm is key. With many types of alarms on the market, we can help find one that’s right for your property and is highly secure yet easy to use.

As with all our security systems, we can design, plan and maintain a burglar alarm that suits your requirements and budget.

We only install intruder alarms from the market-leading manufacturers with well-tried and tested products. So, whether you require installation of a home alarm or a commercial security system, you can rest assured that you’ll get the best.

Burglar alarm servicing and maintenance

Regular servicing of your intruder alarm system is essential to ensure that it will work when you need it to.

Our service maintenance contracts cover annual servicing of your equipment to keep it in tip-top condition and more importantly ensure that you comply with your insurance obligations.

However, failures can occur, so for your peace of mind, your contract will include a guaranteed 24/7 response if your system breaks down.

We provide maintenance contracts on all the burglar alarms that we install and can also take on the maintenance of systems that you’ve already had fitted.

How do I arrange an alarm installation?

Please get in touch and we’ll arrange a free site survey to assess your requirements and recommend an appropriate system.

“As an elderly person, it can be worrying letting people you don’t know into your home. But Aaron was very polite, friendly and helpful.”

Frequently asked questions

Is a wired or wireless intruder alarm best?

Installing a wireless system is easier, quicker and less disruptive. A wireless system is also more flexible than a wired alarm. A hardwired system will work consistently, whereas interference can occasionally interfere with wireless technology. The installation costs are lower for a wireless system but the running costs are higher.

Wired and wireless intruder alarm systems are equally reliable.

Are intruder alarms pet friendly?

There are pet-friendly home security systems with sensors that can be programmed so pets can wander around the house without triggering an alarm.

Can I monitor my intruder alarm remotely?

Yes, many modern intruder alarm systems offer remote monitoring capabilities. Using a smartphone app or web interface, you can arm/disarm the system, receive real-time alerts, and even view camera feeds (if your system includes security cameras).

You also have the option of remote alarm monitoring by a professional monitoring company.

Do intruder alarms need regular maintenance?

Alarms need regular servicing and maintenance to keep them in good working order. The servicing frequency depends on the type of system you have:

  • Audible-only (or bells-only) systems – require annual servicing.
  • Monitored systems – need servicing at least twice a year.
What types of sensors are used in intruder alarms?

Common types of sensors include:

  • Motion detectors: These sense movement within a designated area.
  • Door and window sensors: These are triggered when doors or windows are opened.
  • Glass break sensors: These detect the sound frequencies of breaking glass.
  • Pressure mats: These are placed under carpets or rugs to detect someone stepping on them.
  • Infrared sensors: These can detect body heat and movement.
