Fire Risk Assessments

The purpose of a fire risk assessment is to identify fire risks so that a business can take preventative action to eliminate or reduce the potential causes. It’s a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO).

The fire risk assessment process involves a full review of a commercial premises to assess the risk of fire, the likelihood that fire could break out, and the consequences should a fire occur. A competent individual must carry out the assessment.

We can provide a full fire risk assessment with our accredited surveyor.

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

If you employ five people or more, you are required by law to have a written fire risk assessment for your business. The assessment must be carried out by a competent person who can ensure the fulfilment of all legislation requirements.

The order also states that to maintain fire safety standards, a company must appoint a ‘Responsible Person’. The responsible person must ensure adherence to all fire safety procedures and regular fire risk assessments. Failure to comply with these laws could result in the prosecution of the responsible person.
